Most men (and women!) look in the mirror daily and see themselves as they were 10, 20 and even 30 years ago forgetting to realize that is not who they are today. They don’t drive the same automobile nor have the same education. There interests in sports and places torelax have changed. But most importantlytheir position in life is all together different. They have grown in all areas of business and family except how they dress. Many a man’s image or personal branding doesn’t reflect their current success because of the shopping habits they began their careers with. They have continued the same habits, such as:

• Having 8 suits but only 3 fit properly and are worn weekly;

• Shopping once every 2 1/2 years with no plan to buy stuff;

• Only wearing white shirts because it’s easy;

• Overcleaning an already limited clothing supply which then lose their shape;

• Not understanding what business casual really is for business;

• Keeping every necktie they’ve ever had and wearing them hoping that they look “okay”;

• Settling for an improper fit and poor quality in their clothing.

One of the purposes of dressing well is to build value in the eyes and mind of the beholder. Whether we like it or not, society is visual so we should take the time to put forth our best. Another benefit of dressing well (something that isn’t stressed often enough) is the confidence you gain from taking the time to build value by investing in better suits, shirts and accessories that reflect the person you’ve become. You can’t put a price on confidence because its power is far reaching and it is more of what we need today.

Today – at this moment – is a great time to decide to reinvent your image and the way the world perceives you and, more importantly, they way you see yourself. Below are a few good habits that can get you on the road to the image you deserve:

• Buy the garment once by spending the most you can. You will take better care of it and will look forward to wearing it.

• Donate what doesn’t fit or doesn’t make you feel great because it releases the clutter in your mind.

• Build your wardrobe by making additions 2 times per year with a professional clothier.

• A starter wardrobe should have 3 weeks worth of clothing:

– 10-12 suits

– 3-5 sport coats and pants

– 2-3 blazers

– 1 tux

• Hard to fit men and women should have their clothing custom made.

• Remember that you deserve it and it is the best gift you can give to your family, company, peers, and, mostly, yourself.

Dressing with confidence can help to take you anywhere you want to go, do or be. Today the world needs more confident leaders to be that beacon of light and hope

as history is being made. It’s a great time to reflect your style.
